This is what my desktop looks like right now because it’s that time of the year! It is time for Desert Bus for Hope. The crew from Loading Ready Run have basically created the first and only (that I know of) Internet telethon wherein they play the most boring and horrible game ever, Desert Bus, and people pledge money to continue to make them drive the bus. All proceeds go to Child’s Play which is Penny Arcade’s charity that buys Xmas toys for kids in hospitals.
The game Desert Bus has an interesting lineage; it was spawned from Penn and Teller. Check out the history here. The Desert Bus webcams are oddly soothing and mesmerizing. I don’t know why watching geeky/slightly dorky Canadians play a terrible game is so entertaining. I just know that it is. They raised $70,000 last year. Get on the bus.
